This morning I should be packing for my trip to Montreal in the wee morning hours of tomorrow, but instead I’m in my office editing photos with tears streaming down my face. They are photos of my dearest and closest friend and her beautiful baby boy Alfred. I couldn’t help but be here with these photos this morning, Erin is a life-long friend and has been with me through the very worst and the very best of times. Especially in this past year she has helped me through the hardest time in my life. Love seems a bit flimsy a word for what my heart feels for these two right now. Maybe its the lack of sleep but I needed to write something to go with this post. We grew up together. Erin is one of the most beautiful and kind-hearted people I have ever known, a dear friend, and now a wonderful mother. I don’t know where I would be without her. To look at these pictures now gives me a totally different and deeper perspective on the work that we photographers do and the importance of documenting those we love. The feeling I get when looking at these is, hopefully, something close to what people feel when they receive their images – and it’s glorious! Not only am I filled with love and joy for Erin, but I am in awe of the power these images have to perfectly hold the way I know and love these two. I’m suddenly humbled and honoured to do what I do and feel blessed beyond words. To my dear Erin: I love you and Alfie with all my heart! I’m excited to document your lives and grateful to be a part of them. Thank you for all that you are. I am ever proud of you! Love, Love, Love Karo!
